British Restoration and Augustan Literature - Single View

This lecture continues a three-year cycle covering British literary history from the Middle Ages to the present. This semester starts with the 'Commonwealth' period and the Restoration in the second half of the seventeenth century; it ends with Augustan literature in the first half of the eighteenth century. In terms of genre, restoration drama and the early development of the novel will form special points of interest.
