The discovery of neutrino oscillation 20 years ago has been the first direct proof of physics beyond our present Standard Model of particle physics. Another indirect strong indication is the evidence for dark matter in the universe, which ia very likely be composed by a new or new set of particles. Very sensitive searches for physics beyond the Standard Model are based on searches for rare or forbidden decays or other precision studies.
The lecture will cover the following topics including also some time with excercises:
a) Discovery of the Higgs boson
b) Discovery of neutrino oscillation and current status of neutrino physics
c) Evidence for dark matter and direct search for dark matter particles
d) Search for physics beyond the Standard Model based on rare and forbidden decay searches
