Description Next to cultural studies, media studies are the second, important new field of interdisciplinary approaches recently connected with literary studies. While media studies have evolved into an important paradigm of research, scholarship and teaching of their own, this seminar is interested in bringing insight gained through media studies to bear on literature, but also to use theories and concepts gained in the long tradition of literary studies for the understanding and analysis of media. The seminar covers a wide range from important individual theorists to practical applications, as in questions of media used in literature, of film analysis or in the evaluation of computer games.
