Contents
Description This lecture starts another three-year lecture cycle covering British literary history from its beginnings in the Middles Ages to the Present. It gives a brief survey of British literary history in the Middle Ages, presenting some literary hallmarks of that time such as the Beowulf epic, Chaucer's works and the theatrical traditions of mystery and morality plays. The major focus of the lecture are, however, Elizabethan and Jacobean literature, with as survey of Shakespeare's works naturally a special feature.

Students who have signed up under HIS-LSF will be given access to the lecture's BSCW platform where further information on the lecture (lecture programme, required reading etc.) will be made available from mid-September onwards.
