Wayfinding and navigation is a very central topic in geographic information science and spatial cognition. In this course we will discuss human wayfinding strategies, wayfinding instructions, and wayfinding performance. We investigate, how these strategies can be implemented and to what extent route planners support humans in wayfinding. Furthermore, we will discuss applications for automatic wayfinding and navigation.
The course will mainly consist of readings, student presentations, and discussions.
The course will start on Friday of the second week of the semester. There will be no class on October 16.
