The course will be held in German but requires reading English materials. The course will give an introduction to statistical methods to analyse geoscientific data. It will start with basic measures for the different measurement scales and graphic data. A short introduction to probability, independence, random variables and their distributions is followed by sampling strategies in general and in geographical space. We will have a closer look at point estimation, interval estimation, and hypothesis testing. T-Tests serve as an example to explore general ideas behind testing., like type I and II errors. Other examples are correlation analysis and analysis of variance. Regression is introduced as a first modelling method. The course ends with a short overview over multiviate statistics and spatial statistics.
Note that the course "Einführung in die Geostatistik - Vorlesung" and "Einführung in die Geostatistik - Übungen" belong together and can NOT be taken separately. |
