This workshop is primarily for doctoral researchers and MSc students who would like to improve their academic writing skills in English. If you are a confident writer and would like to find the time and space to focus on a publication you are working on while being surrounded by other researchers, you are more than welcome to join as well.
This workshop will start with an input lecture and then take the shape of a writing ‘retreat’, where participants will be working on a scientific publication or a presentation of their choice. This includes a warm-up, setting and reviewing targets, and most importantly receiving feedback. Academic writing can feel inspiring and joyful, but also intimidating and lonely. Research has shown that the format of a writing retreat can increase well-being and productivity through creating a community of writers who are supporting each other.
The workshop leader is a native German speaker (holding a PhD in Psychology from the University of Muenster) who has been lecturing and researching at universities in London for ten years, currently working as Reader in Psychology and PhD Coordinator in Social Sciences at the University of Westminster. |
