This postgraduate class focuses on current research issues in book studies (broadly understood to include book history and publishing studies). It is addressed to advanced students interested in pursuing research in this area. The general objective is to support students in preparing and conducting their individual research projects (in particular, but not exclusively, with regard to their master theses). We will discuss individual research projects in class, but also read and discuss new research in book studies. The class will also help students with the individual study requirements of the research modules in the MA courses of study.
In the summer term of 2023, we are planning a methods workshop with Dr. Danielle Fuller (University of Alberta) and a workshop on bookishness with Jessica Pressman (author of ”Bookishness. Loving Books in a Digital Age”).
This course requires active participation, including oral presentation of students’ current research projects in class. |
